Friday 4th December saw the SDA Shetland Open Singles take place in the Lerwick Legion and again saw an excellent turnout of 62 players enter on the night to battle it become Shetland Singles champion. After some very close and hard fought games of a good standard of darts in the early rounds of competition the quarterfinals were played simultaneously on four boards. The quarterfinals saw Roger Irvine beat Frank Watt 3-2, Marc Henry beat Tommy Williamson 3-1, Gareth MacRitchie beat Ian Blance 3-1, and George Smith Jnr edge past Liam Sutherland 3-2. The 2 semi finals were played over the best of 7 legs the first semi saw Roger Irvine beat Marc Henry 4-2 and the 2nd semi-final saw George smith Jnr beat Gareth MacRitchie 4-1 to reach the final. The final between Roger Irvine and George smith Jnr saw a good standard of darts thrown by both players, the early stages saw the first 6 legs shared between the 2 players but it was Roger Irvine who went on to take the next 2 legs to run out a 5-3 winner to claim the Shetland singles title for an impressive 3 consecutive year.

On the night a total of eighteen 180s were hit, with Roger Irvine hitting a total of 7, Neal Redfern, Marc Henry, Tommy Williamson George Smith Jnr hit 2 each 180s were also recorded from Barry Couper, Kevin Kyle and Frank Watt
