Saturday 16th November 2024 saw 60 players enter the Davie Young Memorial Cup in the Scalloway Legion, the second Grand Prix of the SDA season.

Following the early rounds which prosecutors some close games the quarter finals saw Philip Mowat (Posties) bt Ryan Inkster (Mega Derts) 4-2, Iain Blance (Bar Stewards) defeat John Philip Sandison 4-2, Kyle Tait (Sandwick Arrows) beat James Shearer (Whalsay) 4-3 and Stuart Paul defeat Hayden Jamieson 4-0.

The best of 9 leg semifinals saw Philip Mowat progress through to the final with a 5-1 victory over Iain Blance, whilst the second semifinal saw Kyle Tait emerge a 5-1 winner over Stuart Paul to progress through to the final.

The final was played over the best of 11 and saw Philip take an early 3-1 before Kyle claimed the next 2 legs to level the match before moving ahead in seven to lead 4-3. Philip leveled the match in leg 8 before Kyle moved 5-4 ahead. Philip again leveled in the penultimate leg before checking out a 68 finish on the bull to claim a 6-5 to become the first winner of the Davie Young Memorial Cup.

A 171 was hit by Hayden Kamieson and a 177 from Evan Goudie.

The highest checkout on the night came from James Shearer with a 117, other high checkouts were recorded from Stuart Paul 112, Hayden Jamieson 100 and Aiden Couper 103
